An accident with a bathroom cabinet
When I was a student, I used to work for a company that manufactured furniture. We worked in big rooms with high ceilings. My tasks included counting the furniture items and checking them for faults. One day, shortly before Christmas, the company got a big order from a large shopping centre. We had to check and count hundreds of new wardrobes, shelves, bookcases, cupboards and other furniture items. I remember climbing a scaffolding fifteen metres tall to reach a bathroom cabinet that was at the top of it. I must say that the job was really dangerous. One of my colleagues broke his arm when a big sofa fell on him from similar scaffolding. He was really lucky that it didn"t kill him. Another guy accidently hammered a nail into his palm when he was assembling parts of a bathroom cabinet. The nail injured his bone badly and he had to go through several operations afterwards. Of course, he got a large amount of money form the insurance company. I must say that working in a furniture factory is really a dangerous job. Of course, times have changed too, and today safety at work is much more important, but honestly, I would never come back to working in a place like that. I prefer my office job and I think it is much safer.
